Joel is 6 years old and is in Pre-Unit. He lives with his mother and 2 siblings in Mathare. Life is difficult for this family. His mother earns a small living from washing clothes for other people but she often struggles to provide for the children without the support of their father.

Joel is a polite young boy who is doing well with his school work. He enjoys helping his teacher with practical tasks in the classroom such as arranging the benches and tables in preparation for a lesson. With external support this little boy could do much better.

Ian is 7 years old and is in Grade 2. He comes from a family of 3 children. Their mother has abandoned the children leaving them with the grandmother who is not able to take care of the them. Life for the children is very difficult . Ian and his grandmother live in a small shack in Mathare slums.

Although the school is giving some support to this little boy, he needs external support to enable him to continue with his education.

Bravin is 11 years old and is in Grade 4. He was abandoned by his parents when he was a baby and since that time his aunty who lives in Mathare has taken care of him. Bravin’s aunty has a large family of her own and earns a meagre living by washing clothes for other people. Life is difficult for this large family.
Bravin is very motivated and is committed to his studies. The class teacher often asks him to be responsible for the class when she is pre-occupied with other assignments. He has a compassionate nature and is always considerate to his juniors in class. The Headmaster feels that with external support Bravin could become a good community leader in the future.

Joyvenna is 6 years old and is in Grade 1. She lives in Mathare with her parents. They do not have stable jobs and are therefore unable to support this little girl with her education.

Joyvenna enjoys outdoor activities and is a friendly, sociable child who is always kind to her classmates. She has shown much promise with her school work and with external support this bright little girl will continue to improve academically.

.Lavin is 12 years old. She started her education late as her parents were not able to afford school fees. She is now in Grade 6. She lives with her parents and one sibling in Mathare and life for this family is hard.
Lavina is a bright and promising girl. She enjoys reading story books and helping her class-mates. The school has high hopes that with external support she can continue to higher education.

Mitchell is aged 7 years and she is in Grade 1. She lives with her family in the Mathare slum. As a result of extremely difficult home circumstances, Mitchell joined the school late. She longed to go to school but the family were struggling to survive on the meagre wages her mother earned washing clothes for other people, so there was no money for school fees. She asked the Headmaster to let her join the school and on compassionate grounds the school decided to enrol Mitchell last year.

She has not missed a day of school, she is hard working and is always friendly and helpful to her friends. With support her school work can really improve.

Aggrey is 10 years old and is in Grade 3. He is still in pre-school as his education has been constantly interrupted as a result of home circumstances. Both is parents are unemployed and unable to support his schooling and the school is now trying to help Aggrey. He is a promising boy who is committed to his studies. He enjoys telling stories in class and he also enjoys outdoor activities. With external support he can do well at school.

Phostin Niva Okiya is 10 years old and is currently in Grade 4. She lives with her mother and her sibling in Mathare. Life for this family is very difficult.
Phostin is a well behaved girl who is always keen to learn. She has an inquiring mind and enjoys asking and answering questions during lessons. She takes a pride in her school and will often arrive early to help the teachers and other children clean the classrooms. She is a promising pupil and with external support the school believes she could attain good academic results.

Faisal is 8 years old and is in Grade 2. He lives in Mathare with his mother and 3 siblings. His mother brought the family to Nairobi from their rural home to try and give the children a better life as their father was violent and abusive. She now washes clothes for people to earn a small living.

Faisal is a humble boy who likes playing football with his friends. He is catching up with his studies, enjoys class work and has a good attendance record at school. With external support this boy can improve still further and reach his potential.

Faith is 11 years old and is in Grade 5. She lives with her father and two siblings in Mathare. Life for Faith and this family is extremely difficult. Her mother left the children in the care of their father who has an alcohol and drug dependency.

Faith is a well-behaved, shy girl who works hard at her school work despite having to care for her junior siblings. She is also responsible for all the household chores and for looking after the family. Given external support she can improve both academically and socially.

Mitchell is 5 years old and is in the Pre-Unit. She lives with her mother and 3 siblings in the Mathare slum. Sadly, her father died three years ago.

Their mother works hard to try and support the family but does not earn enough money from her casual work to be able to provide the basic necessities. The school is therefore trying to help the children by giving them an education and a daily meal. Life is extremely difficult for this family.

Mitchell is a quiet girl, she is friendly to her fellow classmates and works hard in class. With external support she can realise her full potential.

Purity is 7 years old and she is in Grade 2. She comes from a family of 5 people. She lives with her mother who earns money by washing clothes for other people. They live in small shack in Mathare slums. The father has abandoned the family. The family now find life to be very difficult.
Purity is being helped by the school where she receives food and a school uniform, however, she needs external support for her to be able to continue with her education.

Bravin is 14 years old. He is in Grade 7 He comes from a family of 5 children. He lives with his mother who is unemployed. Life for this family is very difficult as the mother cannot meet the daily needs of the family and pay for their school fees. She does casual work earning a meagre wage washing clothes for people.

Bravin needs support to be able to continue with his education.

Geofrey is 10 years old and he is in Grade 5. He comes from a family of 5 people living under the care of his mother. His father does not support the family and he has abandoned the family to their poor mother who finds it difficult to bring up the children.

The mother tries hard to find work but the money she earns is not enough to sustain the needs of the family. They now live in a small shack in Mathare slums under harsh conditions.

Geofrey needs external support for him to continue with his education.

Nelly is 10 years old and she is in Grade 4. There are 4 children in her family. Nelly together with her siblings lives in a one room shack in the Mathare slums. Her mother is a single parent who has to support her children without their father’s help.
Nelly’s mother and the family survive on less than 1 dollar a day. Her mother earns this money by washing peoples clothes in the adjacent estates. It is extremely hard for the mother to be able to provide for her family on such a low age and to pay the rent on the shack.
The children would often go hungry were it not for the support of the school and the provision of a daily meal for the children under the School Feeding Programme.
Nelly is a bright girl in class and with continued support is expected to do well at school.

Stalon is aged 10 years old and he is in Grade 5. There are 4 children in the family. Stalon lives with his parents in a single shack in the Mathare slums.
His parents are unemployed and it is often his mother who struggles to provide for the family by washing clothes for people in the adjacent estates where she only earns less than a dollar a day. From this low wage she has to pay the rent on the shack, buy food for the family and pay the school fees.
Stalon is a very promising boy in school and does well in outdoor activities. He is in need of external support to enable him to continue with his education.

Eric is aged 11 years and is in Grade 4. He lives with his parents and 3 siblings in Mathare and his siblings are all attending the school. His parents do not have stable jobs and with 4 children to support this creates many difficulties for this family.

Eric works hard in class and is often attaining top scores in examinations. He is a quiet boy who focuses on his school work and does well in all subjects. He is well behaved and respectful to his teachers and kind to his friends. He enjoys reading story books. Eric is a bright, conscientious boy who with external support could do exceptionally well.

Steven is aged 8 years and is in Grade 2. He lives with his mother and 3 siblings in Mathare. His mother works as a domestic house cleaner and earns a small wage which enables her to pay for the room she has rented.
Steven is very committed to his studies, he is a humble boy and is kind and considerate to his classmates. He takes good care of his school property and attends school smartly dressed in his school uniform. He enjoys outdoor activities. With support Steven can do well in his studies.

Esther is aged 15 years and she is in Grade 6 at Patmos Junior School. There are 5 children in her family and they are all living in a single room (shack) in the Mathare slum.
Esther lives with her mother. Her father does not support the family.
Life for this family is very difficult as the mother can only find casual work washing clothes for people in the adjacent estate for which she earns only a dollar a day. On days when their mother is not able to find work, the children often go hungry.
All the children are now schooling at Patmos Junior School with the support of the school but they all need help with other schooling requirements.
Esther is a promising girl and she needs external support to enable her to continue with her education

Collins is aged 10 years and he is in Grade 4. There are 5 children in the family. His parents are unemployed and can only find casual work to try and support the children.
This family live in a single room (shack) under very poor living conditions in the Mathare slum. This family are desperately poor and on many occasions the children have to scavenge for food as there is no food in the house.
Collins and two of his two siblings are now schooling at Patmos Junior School and they need external support to enable them to continue with their education. Collins is a bright and promising boy in class and enjoys outdoor activities.

Samuel is aged 8 years old and he is in Grade 2. He comes from a family of 5 people who all live in a small shack in Mathare slums. He lives with his mother who is the only provider for this large family. His mother spends time washing clothes for other people just to earn money to buy food for these children. Living conditions for these children are very difficult. The school has been of help, providing lunch which many times proves to be the only meal of the day for Samuel.
Samuel now needs someone to support him to continue with his education.

Rebecca is 10 years old and is in Grade 5. She lives with her single mother and 4 siblings in poor conditions in a shack in Mathare. Her mother has tried hard to work to support her large family but she is struggling now and life is very difficult for this family. Rebecca is a bright child who despite her home circumstances works hard and does well at school.

External help is desperately needed now to support Rebecca so that she can continue her education.

Francis is 7 years old and is in Grade 1. He comes from a family of 4 and lives with his father. Although his father tries to educate all his children he finds it difficult as he has to support older children in secondary school for which the school fees are high.
The unemployed father survives on casual jobs from which he earns only a small wage. The burden for him to educate these children is too heavy.

Support is desperately needed for Francis to enable him to continue with his education.

Phoebe is 9 years old and will be in the Grade 4 class as at January 2018. Phoebe is a humble girl who joined our school in 2014 while in pre- unit. Her mother died when she as only very young, she has one sibling and they now both live with their grandmother who trys to earn a living selling vegetables in Mathare. Phoebe is dedicated to her school studies and has a good preformance record at school. She has been made class monitor in recognition of her good work. She would like to be a teacher in the future so that she might educate those children who like herself have been less fortunate in life.

Scovia is 16 years old and in Grade 8. She is faced with a lot of difficulties that has made her behind in her education. Scovia lives with her mother in Mathare slums having been abandoned by her father. The mother has no source of income making living conditions for the family unbearable.
Scovia has 4 other siblings who are not attending school. She desperately needs support to enable her to continue with her education.

In January 2017 having passed her KCPE exam Scovia's sponsor kindly agreed to continue to sponsor her at secondary school. She is now attending the MCedo Secondary School in Mathare.

Kennedy is 7 years old and is in Grade 1. Sadly his mother died of malaria in 2015 and his father is also unwell and not able to look after him. Kennedy is a quiet boy who learns through observing others and he also enjoys outdoor activities. He is cared for by the school during the day but life is extremely difficult for him when he returns home at night and at weekends. He is often found caring for his younger brother. External support is now desperately needed for Kennedy.

Sylin is 10 years old and is now in Grade 4. Her father has left the home and she lives with her mother and her sibling in Mathare. Sylin is sociable and enjoys outdoor activities. Unfortunately, her education is frequently interrupted as her mother cannot afford the school fees and other school requirements and life is difficult for this little girl. With external support her education will improve and she can attain good results.
