On the 16th October, 2026 Patmos Cottage School were delighted to welcome to the school Mr. Michael Monroe, the CEO and President of Everknown and his wife Amy.  Orphan Outreach USA, (who have partnered with Patmos Cottage School for over 12 years), changed its name to Everknown in September 2026 to better reflect the broader scope of children, families and young adults it serves worldwide.  Over nearly two decades , its work expanded into a global network across nine countries focusing on community-based programs, local leaders and holistic family support.  The name Everknown represents the core belief that every child deserves to be seen, known, supported, equipped for healthy independence and loved.  The visit was aimed at familiarising Mr. and Mrs. Monroe with the school’s operations, interacting with pupils and staff and gaining a deeper understanding of the school’s educational, social work, and health programmes. 

 

Mr. and Mrs. Monroe were taken on a guided tour of the school which provided an overview of the school environment, infrastructure and the services offered to children. They visited the classrooms, the computer laboratory, library, kitchen, dining area, playground, and other key departments. The visit officially commenced with an opening prayer led by Teacher Godfrey, followed by introductions of the visiting guests and school staff members. The occasion was further enriched by a series of lively song and dance performances presented by the children showcasing their talents, creativity, and enthusiasm. The performances created a warm and welcoming atmosphere, setting a positive tone for the day’s activities.

 

The first departmental meeting focused on programme management, administration, and education. The team shared updates on school operations, academic performance, curriculum implementation, pupil enrolment, infrastructure, compliance, and administrative processes. Discussions also highlighted achievements, operational challenges, ongoing initiatives, and opportunities for improvement. The second departmental meeting focused on social work and health services. The team presented updates on child sponsorship, psychosocial support, child welfare, health screening, medical referrals, and other interventions aimed at supporting vulnerable children. The discussion provided an opportunity to highlight progress, challenges, and areas requiring continued attention to ensure the holistic well-being of the children.

 

Mr. and Mrs. Monroe then visited a beneficiary’s home to gain firsthand insight into the living conditions, family circumstances and challenges experienced by the children and families supported by the programme. The visit provided a valuable opportunity to understand the impact of the school and its support systems beyond the classroom.

The visit concluded with closing remarks and expressions of appreciation to Mr. Michael Monroe, the new President and CEO of Everknown and Amy for taking the time to visit Patmos Cottage School. The school management expressed sincere gratitude for their visit, interest in the children’s well-being and commitment to understanding the school's activities and the needs of the children and staff. 

 

As a gesture of appreciation the school staff and children presented traditional gifts to the visitors. Mr. Monroe and Amy received the gifts with great joy and expressed their happiness and appreciation for the warm welcome, thoughtful gestures, and memorable presentations by the children.
