CEO of Each One Teach One visits School
On Monday 25th March, 2025 Mr. Nitesh Patel, the CEO of Each One Teach One (EOTO) together with Friends from EOTO, visited the school. They were accompanied by Mr. Mortimer Jones who is the Director of Programs at Orphan Outreach USA. EOTO is a non-profit that helps pay for the health, education, housing and nourishment of orphans and poverty-stricken children. Nitesh is a dedicated philanthropist and community leader with a deep passion for empowering children and families living in poverty. Believing that education and access to basic necessities are fundamental to breaking the cycle of poverty, Nitesh founded Each One Teach One (EOTO) in 2008.
On arrival at the school the visitors were given a guided tour of the school premises and facilities by the Founder and Administrator of the school Mr. Richard Wanjala Manya and the Yatima Outreach Country Director, Mr. Tom Wambulwa. This was followed by entertainment which saw children from various classes perform traditional dances, songs and poetry which brought immense joy to the visitors. Thereafter staff members and visitors alike introduced themselves and gave memorable and inspirational speeches. The Founder spoke passionately of his vision for the school and the Yatima Outreach Director gave a brief history of the partnership between the school and EOTO. Mr. Nitesh Patel and Mr. Mortimer Jones each gave uplifting speeches inspiring the children, parents and staff with words of encouragement, hope and motivation. There were speeches also from the Headmistress Madam Masinde highlighting the progress and achievements of the children and from the Head social worker, Madam Mary, who emphasised the importance of community engagement in supporting vulnerable children and child protection and safeguarding. There was also a speech from a parent representative who wanted to express the parents gratitude to Yatima Outreach and the school for the help and support they provide for the children and the wider community which has been so impactful in terms of delivering good education, healthcare and nutrition.
Patmos School social workers, in collaboration with the Patmos fraternity organised for the EOTO visitors and Yatima Outreach staff to give a bale of maize flour to all households for Primary, Graduates and Post Graduate beneficiaries. The social workers confirmed 225 households who were supported at the time. It was a positive impact especially to the assessment and crisis intervention cases identified and where complex needs were addressed. The initiative offered a first-hand glimpse to the visitors into the critical work social workers undertake daily to address pressing issues such as child protection, health and nutrition, education and early childhood development. The sacks of maize flour were funded by EOTO.
Nitesh and his team also presented to all the children, according to their respective classes and ages, one full set of school uniform, a pair of leather school shoes as well as a pair of sports shoes and a pair of socks. For the teenage girls they also received 3 packets of sanitary towels.
The visitors together with Patmos School and Yatima Outreach staff had an opportunity to serve the children with a special lunch of French fries, chicken and soft drinks. There was also a delicious cake that had been baked especially for the occasion and the guests had the opportunity to cut the cake and share a slice as a sign of celebration and connection.
The visit by Mr. Nitesh Patel, his friends from EOTO and Mr. Mortimer Jones of Orphan Outreach, was a remarkable experience filled with moments of joy, learning and kindness. Their thoughtful activities and heartfelt interactions left an indelible impact on the children and families of Patmos Cottage School. The community extends its deepest gratitude for their support and eagerly anticipates future collaborations to bring about lasting change.
